The building at 1101 Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park, NJ, has a storied history, housing several notable businesses over the years. It first gained prominence as The Roman Arch, and then as Giulio's South in 1976, a popular bar and music venue owned by Frank and Giulio Rubinetti. Giulio's South quickly became a hub for rock music, hosting bands like The Ramones and The Good Rats. However, the venue closed its doors in 1979.
In 1979, Park Place opened its doors, becoming a significant part of Asbury Park's music scene. The club hosted various local and touring rock bands, adding to the city's reputation as a cultural hotspot. Unfortunately, Park Place's tenure was short-lived, as the building was destroyed by a fire in September 1981. The fire caused significant damage, and the club never reopened, marking the end of an era for the building and its contribution to Asbury Park's music history.
