The Cypress Inn was a landmark dining establishment located at 807 State Highway 35 North in the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township, NJ. It is most fondly remembered during the ownership tenure of Howard Rose, a Bronx-born Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, who owned and operated the restaurant from 1967 to 1983. Under Rose’s direction, the venue cultivated a reputation as the "Shore's Foremost Steak House," becoming a premier destination for weddings, anniversaries, and high-end dining. The restaurant was known for its classic steakhouse atmosphere—white tablecloths and prime cuts—serving as a social hub for the area before the proliferation of chain restaurants. Following the Cypress Inn, Rose went on to partner in other notable local spots, including the Cat's Pub in Loch Arbour and the Water Witch in Highlands.
