When Jimmy Liu built out his stretch of the Long Branch boardwalk in 1968, the Cafe Bar was the classy end of the operation, ocean view included, sitting right alongside Jimmy's Famous Hot Dogs under the same roof. A fire chewed the place up in 1984 and it got rebuilt by 1985, only for the whole Long Branch Pier to burn to the waterline in June of 1987. Dinner with a view of the Atlantic used to mean the Cafe Bar, right up until the ocean took the building back.
