For decades, it served as more than just a pharmacy; it was a community touchstone and, along with a sister location in Deal, gained a reputation as a "celebrity pharmacy." During the mid-20th century, it was frequented by a remarkable list of famous patrons visiting the Jersey Shore, including entertainment legends like Al Jolson and Eddie Cantor, actors Jane Wyman and Jackie Cooper, former Miss America Bess Myerson, and newsman Walter Cronkite. The pharmacy's long-standing presence on the block between Corlies and Allen Avenues came to an abrupt and tragic end in 1992, when a devastating fire not only marked its demise but also destroyed the entire block of stores, leaving a significant void in the town's commercial fabric.
