The Upstage Club, located at 700 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park, New Jersey, was a legendary music venue that opened in 1968 and closed its doors in 1971. It was a non-alcoholic coffeehouse and after-hours club where young, aspiring musicians like Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny Lyon, and Steven Van Zandt honed their live performance skills through endless all-night jam sessions. The club's unique atmosphere, decorated with fluorescent paintings and black lighting, fostered a creative environment that brought together diverse musical styles and cultures.

Despite its short lifespan, the Upstage Club left an indelible mark on the music world and is now featured in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.
