The Red Lion opened on that corner in 1926. Joseph and Phyllis McClorry ran it until 1957, then it was Citta's, and in 1977 the Bottazzi family took it over and put their name on it. Tavern, restaurant and liquor store all in one building. Bar pies, a long bar, live music, and more wedding receptions and christenings than anybody could count. If you grew up in Brick, you had a night there.

And Snoopy was on the roof. You knew you were home when you saw him.

It closed on January 18, 2012, eighty-six years after it opened. Snoopy came down first. The building came down after. There's a CVS on the corner now.

The sign is reproduced the way it would look on a shirt that had survived from the tavern's own run — the lion, the blackletter and the old exchange number cracked and worn through, with the white knocked out so the shirt itself becomes the background.

Printed to order on a Gildan 64000 softstyle tee — 100% ring-spun cotton at 4.5 oz/yd² (153 g/m²), quarter-turned so there is no crease down the center, with shoulder-to-shoulder taping and double stitching at the neckline and sleeves. Sport Grey and Ice Grey are a 90/10 cotton-polyester blend. The chest graphic runs 11 inches wide, set about two inches below the collar.
