Ducky Fornicola, a Neptune native and Asbury Park High School alum, was the heart of the operation. From roughly 1960 through the late 1980s, Ducky didn't just sell hot dogs; he mentored the local youth he hired and greeted every customer with a contagious smile. Whether you were a regular at the counter or stopping by after a basketball game (where Ducky was a local legend as a coach and director), his shop was a "respite from unrest" and a symbol of community.
