The memory

In 1965, Jack Baker — already known for his Lobster Shanty — opened The Shanty Pub, a two-room waterfront lounge on Channel Drive built almost entirely from driftwood he personally gathered along the Atlantic Coast. Baker and his crew spent 18 months collecting beams, planks, and weathered shipwood from beaches stretching from Newfoundland to North Carolina. Even the low ceilings were framed with hand-hewn beams from an old barn, and ship nails were used when regular ones bent against the hardened wood. Inside, the vibe was pure nautical Jersey Shore — rough pine floors, a stone fireplace, and tabletops made from fiberglass-coated driftwood. The pub served oversized shrimp and clam cocktails, clam chowder in pewter bowls, and draught beer in pewter steins. Built for $160,000 and seating 130, The Shanty Pub quickly became a local institution for seafood, cocktails, and waterfront views — a true slice of Shore history.

153 grams per square meter of ring-spun cotton, stitched twice at the neck and again at the sleeves so those edges outlast a bargain shirt. Shoulder seams taped, cut on the quarter turn to skip the usual fold. Nothing here comes pre-made; it goes to press once you order it.
