Led Zeppelin's decision to play in Asbury Park instead of Woodstock was influenced by their manager, Peter Grant, who believed that participating in Woodstock would typecast the band as just another act in a large festival lineup. Grant wanted to maintain Led Zeppelin's distinct identity and avoid being overshadowed by the festival's other performers. This choice allowed the band to deliver a memorable performance in Asbury Park and continue their rise to superstardom.
