Club Bene was a cherished entertainment venue in South Amboy, NJ, located at 1783 State Route 35. Originally a 14-lane bowling alley, it was transformed into a theater by its owner, Joseph Beninato, who envisioned a space for Broadway-style shows. The venue opened on October 8, 1968, with the debut of the musical "Gypsy" starring Carol Bruce. Over the years, Club Bene hosted numerous notable acts, including George Carlin, Gilbert Gottfried, Meat Loaf, The Ramones, and Howard Stern. The venue was known for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse performances, making it a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike.

Club Bene officially closed its doors in 2004 before it was demolished on December 1, 2014. Despite its closure, the venue remains a cherished piece of South Amboy's history, remembered for its significant contribution to the local arts and entertainment scene. The venue's legacy lives on through the memories of those who attended performances there, and it is often fondly referred to as the "Jersey version of the Copacabana".
