The memory
The Rutgers Grease Trucks were a legendary staple of college life at Rutgers University, parked at Lot 8 on the College Avenue campus in New Brunswick from 1979 to 2013. Famous for their over-the-top “Fat Sandwiches” — like the Fat Darrell, loaded with chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, fries, and marinara — the trucks became a late-night rite of passage for students and locals alike. This shirt celebrates an era when food was greasy, college nights were long, and Lot 8 was the center of the Rutgers universe.
4.5 oz on the tag, ring-spun cotton, more substantial than the shop's other blanks. An extra row of stitching runs the neckline and both cuffs, tape crosses shoulder to shoulder, and the quarter-turn build skips the fold a tube-cut shirt would have. Made fresh per order, not pulled from inventory.
